The Pennsylvania Firebacks Catoctin Furnace Cast Iron Fireback is a reproduction celebrating the history of the original Catoctin furnace which has recently been restored as a historic part of Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland. The furnace was originally built in 1776 by the first governor of Maryland, Thomas Johnson, and was later leased to Benjamin Blackford and Thomas Thornburgh. This fireback pays homage to these men for the role they played in American History.
