Chrystal against brick

How does this beautiful hardened chrystal fireplace screen not break when it is not only sitting on brick (or stone) but must be moved in and out of a brick frame of the fireplace opening? If a corner were to gently bump any part of the brick/stone surround wouldn't it crack? Deb
