I purchase the unit and blower unit with some concerns as to how well it would really work. It arrived in few weeks after placing order well packaged and for the most part was easy to set up and install, about 30-45 minutes for you need to seal the tubes. Although getting the tubes to line up with the blower unit took some fiddling around with. The first night I used the unit I had the heat on and did notice that the room was warm and comfortable. The next night when it went down into the 30’s I decided to keep the heat off to see how much warmth the unit was really providing. Well all I can say is I was pleasantly surprised at how warm the room was and even the rest of the house. It was not only the fact that it kept the room warm but it was a comfortable soft soothing heat. I really noticed the job it was doing when the fire died out and the house became very cold. The unit will take some time to heat up an area but it defiantly does the job as advertised. I definitely recommend this product.
Masonry fireplace unit
Great product, and it works well without the blower unit. I noticed that after a good bed of coals had built up around the tubes hot air literally blew in to the room from the heat convection, all this and we're burning about half as much wood in the fireplace. Your product definitely satisfies my expectations.
We have only used the item once, but works great! Really heats up our large room.
5 tube fireplace convection heater
Telephone response was fast, courteous, and product-knowledgeable. Shipping was fast, product packing secure and compact, and product assembly instructions simple. Product functioned as advertised, i.e. no smoke emitted into the room being heated, and efficient to heat a 20 x 26 high-ceiling room comfortably within twenty-minutes of starting. Operation with ceiling fan cut room heating time in half. Company and product highly-recommended.
This product has made a major difference in the amount of wood I need to burn to heat my house. It's also very easy to clean the ashes out from under it (just tip it up) so as to keep a nice space for a good bed of coals. I'm very pleased with it and recommend it to anyone who wants more heat from their fireplace.
Masonry Fireplace Tubes
With oil prices so high I was looking for a cheaper way to heat my house. I was delightfully surprised to have a product work. I wish I would have gotten a few more tubes since my fireplace is extra large. Very happy with this poduct. Has stood up to blazing fires on a daily basis. Don't need a blanket once these tubes get fired up.
Fireplace Blower 5 tube
What can I say. No surprises, quick delivery.
Increase Your Heating Efficiency!
Heat rises. It makes sense to pipe the air above the flame into the room. More heat, no smoke. Just what I needed. Works great without the fan ( in case of power loss ). Works even better with it.
Fireplace Heat Exchanger
I had to replace an existing heat exhanger that I burned through after many years of very hot fires. I searched on line for close to a month until I came across Woodland Direct. I liked the warranty, the exact measurements and the fact that's it's made in the USA. The exhanger came a day early and had been in commission due to the cold weather in NJ. I had a question regarding one of the pipes on the u it and Customer Service was great when a called. I highly recommend the unit. I ordered the unit without the fan.

Fireplace Heater for Masonry Fireplace - 5 tubes
Fits in the fireplace with room to spare. I have a fire every night. My room heats up much faster, as the heat blows out the top of the tubes. It is very easy to add wood to a burning fire. I would recommend this product to anyone.
I've been trying to learn how to get the most of my fireplace for a few years. Living in California, a fireplace isn't a necessity, and we don't use ours much, but it would be nice if it actually heated a room instead of just the immediate area in front of the fire. In fact, before getting the heater, the room actually became colder when using the fireplace. I was amazed at how much heat comes out of this heater into our large great room and although I was thinking I may eventually purchase the blower, I don't think I will need to. I truly enjoy this heater and the warmth that comes from it. I don't need to run the furnace when using it. There is no smoke and I use "firelogs" instead of wood. Perfect addition for a California fireplace!!
I've only used the Heater Grate a few times but so far I'm very happy with the purchase. First of all, the product came boxed in one piece so I didn't have to assemble it, which was awesome. I did not purchase a motorized blower because I didn't want the look of a box and cord on my hearth, plus I didn't want the noise to interfere with the ambiance of a nice fire. I find the heater puts out a decent amount of heat without it. There was no problem with smoke entering my home and the fire burns nicely on the grate. The grate is lightweight and is easily removed for clean up.
Heater and Blower
I would recommend 100%.
Works as described
Works as designed, heats my 22x22 living room well while burning maybe a 1/4 of the wood I would have burned without it. Looks well built. Only suggestion I would add is adjustable legs 1-2inch rise option would be nice. I added about 1 3/4 inches to the legs and it fits perfectly. Before it sat to low. I use to have something similar 30 years ago. Worked the same, your cord of wood seems to last for ever. That one finally burned out ( hole in the pipes). If this one lasts like my old one, it’s worth the money.

5-Tube Fireplace Heater/Andirons
Works fine, looks cool. Little hard to clean out ashes under it. May keep a couple bricks at the side to raise it up for cleaning.

Blower is the only weakness
Overall I am very impressed with the workmanship that went into this product however the blower could have one higher speed push harder to allow the air to make its way accross the room better especially when you are first trying to get the room warm.
5 Tube Fire Place Grate
I used to own Cardinal FireBird fireplace grates until I couldn't find them anymore. That is the only reason I quit using the product. After that I used a fireplace grate made by EcoFire. We enjoyed that product although it was much more pricey than the Cardinal FireBird grate. When that wore out, I went back to buy a replacement and couldn't find where to order one so I looked around for a tube fireplace grate and stumbled on this one from Woodland Direct. It is very similar in design to the Cardinal FireBird grate I used to use although this one is made of much heavier materials and it is larger. That it is made of heavier materials addresses one of the deficiencies of the Cardinal FireBird Fireplace grates I used to use. Those Cardinal FireBird grates rarely made it through an entire season before the tubes deteriorated to the point that it no longer could be used. With the heavir materials this product is made with I expect it will last much longer. I only got to use this Woodland Direct grate for about a month of the burning season. We use the grate without the blower attachment and we found it very effectively threw heat from the fire into the room. We did notice our fires seemed smokey, but I truly do not know why that is just yet. One feature I wish the product had is a screen just below the tubes to catch the coals so that the hot coals would lay against the tubes rather than fall to the floor of the fireplace. I think that would hlep the grates throw even more heat into the room. That was a design feature of the Cardinal Fireplace grate I used to use. We are satisfied with the Woodland Direct 5 tube grate.
fire could be larger, alowing bigger fires to be built and but time would increase.
This fireplace heater unit seems to be working well for us. It's well made and seems to increase the efficiency of our fireplace about 30%. The true test will come when the snow sets in this winter. I paired this unit with a heavy iron fireplace back to further encourage energy output, and they seem to work well together.
5 tube for masonry fireplace
This helps get more heat into the room but not as much as I need. I just can't afford the blower. It sits too low in my fireplace and I had to put firebricks under the legs to get more draft. I still don't know what the piece of metal across the to of the pipes does. Also I had to buy a screen for under it because my firestarter and kindling just fell thru the big spaces between the pipes. Being on limited income I should have saved my money for a gas stove. I was hoping for 500xs more heat.
5 Tube Grate Heater
Easy to assemble, works good. Some grommets in top side of grates are prone to fall out, these shoudl be made better. Heat is better than any normal grate without tubes, but wish I would have ordered the fan, even if the feminine residents might have balked.
I had been looking at several different styles of heat exchangers and decided on the 5 tube. It came sooner than expected. Very solidly built. I did not get the blower due to budget, wished I had. It does kick out more heat into the room, but would like even MORE. I will be able to make a blower myself with items I have in my workshop. The only other issue was the legs are too short, IMHO - getting paper under it for starting was a pain; also, for cleaning out ash. I slid 3" galvanized pipe segments on each leg and it works perfectly. Also easy to take down when I need to clean out the ash. Overall very happy with our purchase.
Well built and solid. Works great. Just wish the leg stands were a little higher.
Only complaint is it has too short of legs. Very hard to clean under. Almost have to remove it to clean out the ashes. Suggest some sort of adjustable legs.

Heat blower for Masonery Fire place
Blower would have worked fine except for my use the pipes were not high enough. I could only stack maybe two sticks of wood between the bottom and top of pipes.
The product (pipes & connector box are perfect). The black hose, however is way too short & not study enough (dents to easy). When I called & requested to buy a 4' piece of black tubing, the customer service rep said it was like $100!!!!! for a 4' piece of flex tube...come on now...I just spent over $600 with you guys! They suggested I go to an auto parts store & buy a 4' piece of flex tube for car exhaust & I could get it cheaper....I did ..$20..it was much cheaper....but not flexible enough. If they can sell a 4' piece of pipe that is much more stable/sturdy/better quality...why can't you guys? Looks like I'm gonna have to have something custom made. Also a suggestion....at the black box that installs over the tubing, add a 45 degree connector that you can hook a section of the tube to (to exit fireplace).....then another 45 degree connector (to connect to the tube coming out of the fireplace) that will lead to the blower. The tubing you supply bends, dents, very, very, easily therfore cutting dow on air flow. With a 4' tube, I could place my blower away from the hearth & behind my recliner, so that on high fan setting, it won't be so noisey. Just my 2 cents worth. You can always improve your product. 5 tube Fireplace heater
I think the reason this heater is not working for me is the top is about 10 inchs from the top of my fireplace top, so with out the blower attachment the small amount of heat that is comiing from the top of the tubes is just going back up the chimney.
the heat output at the tubes is 300-500 degrees but there is not much effictiveness in the room . Size of room is 11x16 eight foot ceiling. Blower works good.however after about 20 minutes the room temperature went up about 5 degrees the same temperature increase as my old standard grate would put out. So I spent 600 dollars for no change in heat output. Please advise.
This product will put out more heat than an ordinary fireplace grate, once a good bed of coals is established, but if you pull it far enough forward into the fireplace opening for efficient heat output, it will emit smoke into the room. The device is OK for occasional use, but if you are looking for a reliable, daily source of wood heat, buy a wood stove.
masonry fireplace heater
The heater does increase the heat, of course. It's difficult to load with the front vertical support, and it has smoked somewhat even though we placed it back further in the fireplace. When placed as suggested in the directions, we got quite a lot of smoke in the room. One of the pipe caps fell off, but could be put back in. Since it does keep the room warm, we will continue to use it.
Fireplace Heater for Masonry Fireplace - 5 Tubes
Very happy with this heating aid. Could use a fan but, does anyone make a "non" electric, didn't think so. Anyway, still happy with your product. Thank you. Ellen
This heater does not work as well as I was hoping. After four hours of burning it starts to generate enough heat to raise the room temperature about 5-6 degrees F above where the home thermostat is set (when set at 60 deg F, fire started at 9:30, temp finally at 66 by 1:30/2 pm, outside temp in 20s). For the first few hours it's only about a 2 degree difference. We do not have the blower. Room size is about 20 x 25. We do have doors on the fireplace opening, so the intake tubes face the door frame with a two inch space between. The screens block most of the heat, so we have to leave them open unless the room is unattended. The temp drops about two degrees with the screens closed. If we were to purchase a blower, it would be difficult to arrange the flex tube that joins the heater to the blower because of the glass doors and screen. The demo for installing only shows an open fireplace.
Fireplace heater review
I was slightly disappointed at the quality of construction and materials for an item that cost $300. The tubing used for construction appears to be automotive exhaust tubing. I decided to give it a try anyway. I did not buy the optional blower and without it there is not enough increase in heat output to tell the difference. I believe that with the blower it would work, so my advice to anyone considering this product is to buy the blower as well, or dont buy this thing at all. It just doesnt work on its own.
review - 5 tube fireplace heater
I bought the product without the blower accessory, thinking it would be as effective as the Firebird brand I'd used years ago. It definitely is not as effective and barely sends any heat into the room. I know someone who has your product with the blower unit attached, but found it ugly and too noisy. The edges on the metal plate, the one that needed to be flipped over and reattached across the top of the unit, was so razor sharp, I had to wrap it in a towel and take it into a metal machine shop and have the edges smoothed down to avoid someone getting seriously injured. I will not be recommending this product to anyone.
performance of fireplace heater
I was disapointed in the amount of heat given off by the product. The claim of 500% more efficient than a normal fireplace seems like an exaggeration. It probably works better if you buy the electric fan attachment. I would not recomend the product .
5 Tube Masonry Fireplace Heater
I recently installed this unit at our family cabin. I have to say the heat output was very disappointing. I did not purchase the blower and it appears this unit is ineffective without it. There is little discernible convection air flow from the tubes. The little flow there is seems to be sucked back up the chimney. I do not recommend using this without a blower. That said, the blower is somewhat expensive.
5 tube Masonry fireplace heater
Not working like I hoped. The tube clearance is too low for proper air flow when the burning ashes drops below and I don't really feel a difference in heater air flow coming into the room. Too much smoke build up because of limited air flow below the grate. Maybe I should of purchased the blower also, but specs stated would work without blower. Not satisfied and returned to old grate until find another product.
Delivery was correct and installation simple. Effectiveness is not so good as it was advertised; even I am not satisfied at all while heater causing the fireplace to emit smoke in the room what is not case without the heater.
Customizing five burner heater
Five tube burners not designed for gas starter fireplaces. Had to add 2 inches to clear gas starter. Two speed blower is ineffecient. Had to replace with a higher rpm squirrel cage fan to move hot air into family room and other parts of a two story house. For the amount of extra work, I had to do, I could have built the entire project, which yeilds to my negative rating.
NOT as described
I am frankly unhappy with my purchase. I read lots of reviews of this and was excited to try to get a little "off the grid" by using my fireplace to help heat my home. All reviews said I should get 40,000+ BTUs extra convected heat with just the unit WITHOUT having to buy a blower (which I can't figure out why the blower is almost $300). I didn't want to spend $600 so after researching online decided to get a 5-tube (6-tube would be ideal but it's "custom" and takes longer and I didn't like the price jump to add one tube when adding one should be just a bit more than $60 extra but they want $110-180 for the extra tube). The 40k BTU should suffice. I've tried various ways to get the unit to get heat into my house and it just does not live up to the claim. I only hope Woodland would let me try a blower for free to see if adding it would actually get the heat into my home and not continue to go up the flue. I only recommend anyone buy any of these units if they decide to get a blower (or change the item descrictions to say you will only the added heat IF you also purchase a blower). Lastly, I bought Woodland over the other guys since they had a 3-year warranty vs 1-year from competitor. It is likely moot with buying a blower. [please do not list my email]
I wish the upper part of the tubes had an adjustment joint (or an extension) at the bend to enable some flexibility in raising the tube tips for taller fireplaces and to open up and enlarge the area where the logs rest. Other than that I am very pleased w/ your product especially w/ the blower.
