Chimneysaver Solvent Base 5 gallon

Add PWR to your mortar mix, you will make it water proof upon drying. PWR breathes, allowing internal moisture to escape but keeping rain and snow out.

This product allows deep penetration of its active ingredients to form a strong chemical bond beneath the treated surface. This bond allows the product to become a physical part of the structure, providing long-term water repellent protection. Will not alter surface color or appearance.

Brick & Stone Cleaner is a safe concentrated cleaner to remove smoke residue, soot and creosote from masonry surfaces. Will not harm metal, glass or fiberglass. Contains an industrial-strength solvent to dissolve build-up and a heavy-duty surface cleaner to penetrate and remove grime and greasy dirt. No dangerous acids.

ChimneySaver reduces water penetration into the masonry by 99.9%. It is also 100% vapor permeable, which means that unlike most waterproofing agents, it won't trap the water vapors that may pass through the bricks when the chimney is in use. This is important, because if the water vapors are trapped in the brick it can cause spalling and freeze/thaw damage to the chimney.
