Traditional Style Guide

Explore the features of traditional design to create a timeless, refined living space that feels welcoming and family-friendly

Traditional interior design is all about creating a harmonious atmosphere that’s refined, yet welcoming and laid-back.

This classic, warm, and familiar style is inspired by popular European decor from the 18th and 19th centuries, with nostalgic patterns, earth or jewel-toned hues, and matching furniture.

The goal of traditional design isn’t to create a “wow factor.” Rather, it’s to provide a timeless and comfortable backdrop for family living.

A typical traditional living space has a neutral color palette, a natural stone or brick hearth with a wood mantel, and dark, wood furniture with few ornamental details.

Traditional style is rooted in traditions of the past but isn’t specific to any time period.

In fact, many of today’s traditional homes incorporate modern accents, like bold pops of color, contemporary decor, and a blend of antique and vintage furniture. This mix-and-match style is referred to as Transitional design
