We received the chimney cap and put it together and then realized that the wrong size had been sent. I discussed the size with Randy and we decided on a 10 inch high one. However, we received an 8 inch high one. I'm just hoping it doesn't turn out to be an expensive mistake. I still can't believe that the price was $259, especially after seeing it in person. I could have bought a whole set of expensive stainless steel pots and pans for far less than that. I don't know what product rating to use but for the cost I would have to rate it at the lowest, and I don't know whether 5 is better or worse than 1, so I went the middle of the road.

I ordered a stainless steel multiflue chimney cap. I installed it myself and couldn't be more pleased with the asthetics and performance. I had some leaking of rain water through a likely gap in the flue at a bend inside the chimney. The leaks ruined the drywall around the fireplace. But since the chimney cap , I've had no visible water damage, despite several heavy rains. I replaced 2 small chimney caps whith a large multi flue unit that comes with a large flat lid that prevents (acid)rain from entering my flue.

I have over 40 years of chimney building experience here on the coast of southern Maine. Woodland's multi-flue chimney caps are an excellent alternative to a costly masonry cap. Having the screen in place prevents unwanted guests into the chimney during off season when some homes may be closed and unoccupied.

Product was well made and fairly easy to install in about 30 minutes following the video instructions that were sent. We got it not only to keep critters out of the chimney flue, but to act as a spark arrestor since we are in a heavily wooded national forest. Stainless steel should last a lifetime. I am very happy with the product.

Delivery was prompt and the installation video that came with the chimney cap was really great. I admit it is not a very difficult job but the video removed all apprehension.

I've not had this installed yet because of weather, but it appears well made, & I anticipate that I will be pleased. There appeared to be, however, a disconnect between the live bodies in customer service & the customer service e-mail -- I send $ by paypal, & it appeared to be several days before the live bodies were aware of the e-mail notification. I also never got an answer to a request for a measurement of total height (chimney to "ridgepole") on a 2d cover for which I requested a price quote.

top plate incorrect

it would be wonderful, if the sales rep. would go through all of the questions on the design list so as to "trigger" answers from the consumer that might impact the making of custom top plates. Our opening for the flex pipe needed to be turned 90 degrees in our top plate, because we were not asked about all of the questions on order/design form. We paid a local company to cut off and resolder the plate with the oval hole elongnated the other way.

Muti Flue SS Chimney Cap

Product as advertised, prompt shipping. Assmbly staight forward. But be aware that drilling anchor holes into masonry at some elevation, on less than optimal footing for leverage, on each chimney side, is not for the faint of heart. Additionally, in order to anchor the side flanges such that the box formed is square, the lid should be attached to “square up” the mesh sides. This makes the large size chimney caps very heavy and obtuse to handle as a single assembly. ………..at elevation.

Stainless Steel Flue Cap

I have a three flue chimney which had three separate covers to keep out rain, animals, etc. Was having problems with downdrafts, so I decided to do something better. The WoodlandDirect SS Flue cap was worth every penny. Easy to assemble, easy to install (drill pilot holes and then use self tapping screws provided. Cosmetically its a ten, and with a higher cover, downdraft in one flue has been resolved. Thanks.

Edges were bent badly in a couple of placed despite the box being delivered in perfect condition, which leads one to believe it was damaged already prior to packaging. Rather than deal with headache of returning the item (nearest UPS drop off center is 50 miles away) I installed it after doing what I could to reshape the bent areas since it was still functional.

Size of cap

Not your fault but customer service pointed out that I could order cap with same dimensions as my chimney and turn panels inside out for a "flush look". I wish I had stayed with my original intent to keep cap 3" smaller than chimney top . Not much I can do about it now I guess.

Great product. Assembled all the tools and went up on the roof. Everything was included, fasteners, silicone and of course the chimney cap. Excellent product. But heed the warning on the instructions. When assembling, be careful. The metals edges of the side pieces are sharp.Wear gloves if you can or keep band aids nearby. Assembly is simple. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Meets expectations!

So far, so good. Just installed this 10 days ago. It fits well, looks good, and stood up to lots of rain and wind. It also performed well with a large fire on a windy night. Sales associate was helpful too.

Great Product

Cap is built very well, SS hinges to mount with Torcon type screws into the mortar. Supplied with a type of Silicone Caulk (I did not use it as my application did not require it). Shipped broken down, easy to reassemble with wire hinge pins in two corners. My only issue is there was no shipping notification or tracking. It showed up unannounced. Quick, 6 days from my order, but I was in the dark until it showed up. Otherwise 5 stars.
