Fireplace grate review

The fireplace grate is much more substantial than the one it replaced. However, the grate spacing does not assure as complete burning of all embers as its' predecessor, so I wind up with a higher proportion of partially burned embers. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the cast iron grate with closer spacing that does not allow as many embers to fall thru unburned.

This thing is built like a tank. Very happy with the build quality and would recommend highly.

Worth the money

In the last couple of years I have gone through at least two grates a year which I would purchase local at retailers. This grate is impressively built and the materials much more substantial. As far as durability - time will tell. So far so good not bending noted.

I like the size of grate with extra legs in center to hold it up when hot. I wish all legs where an inch shorter.Very nice product. I will buy again.

This grate is great! The wood burns longer with less big pieces falling through because of the grind on top of the grate. Great product! Very happy with the reasonable prices at Woodland, we have bought several products for my wife's uncle's new home (fireplace).

I hope 5 is the best score for this product; it is a great grate!! The embers stay on the grate without falling through; as a result the fire burns completely through. It is VERY solidly constructed, and should live up to it's "Lifetime" description. This grate is light years ahead of the cheap grates sold in the home improvement stores. Congratulations on a great product!!

Great Product! Everything that they said it would be. Firewood sits nicely above log lighter and the ember grate makes it easy to burn wood. Lights logs almost immediately when new wood is put on. Very please with this purchase. Heavy Duty!

This grate is wonderful. I needed one that had clearance for a permanent gas line in the fireplace. Customer service worked with me to find one that would fit. This grate is perfect. It is easy to start a fire and keep it burning. The quality is exceptional. I would definitely buy it again and recommend it to my friends.

So Far, So Good

We live in Iowa and use our fireplace a great deal during the winter. We've tried several cast iron grates, but they have all had very short lives. This steel grate appears indestructible! We've only had it a month, but clearly, it promotes more complete combustion of the wood, and also prevents wood from rolling out of the fireplace. As far as the "lifetime" description, it's too early to say. But even if it only lasts a couple of seasons, it is still superior to any other grate I have tried.

The shipping was fast , got to my house within days of ordering. The grate is very heavy and heavy duty materials. I have been using this in the firebox of my smoker. Works great and the expanded metal on the bottom helps keep the coals Together longer. Thumbs up.

I had trouble finding a durable fireplace grate in the stores. This one is the perfect size and is top quality. I love the mesh that holds the embers and burns all of the wood. The ashes fall through the mesh and there are no lumps when cleaning out the fireplace. I expect this to last for the rest of my life. It is well worth the cost.

So much heavier and thicker bars than all my previous grates which seem to last only a year or 2. The extra height allows for easier access to the ashes when cleaning out. Hope it really does last a "lifetime" (15 more years?).

This grate is very heavy duty! Perfect for northern Minnesota winters! I’ve only had this grate for a week and I’ve had 3 fires so far. One fire was nonstop over a weekend so I feel this grate got a good test. I have distorted, sagged and melted grates from big box stores over one season of fires. I don’t think that will happen with this one for a long time. I will definitely be buying another grate for my second fireplace!

Great Grate!

I purchased this grate as a replacement for one that did a melt down during a Texas severe late winter 2021 ice/snow storm where we were without power for over 5 days. We were able to stay warm with our fireplace which we normally use for ambiance rather then function. It’s summer now so haven’t had an opportunity to use it but it fit perfectly using the measurement filter and it is heavy and well made so I don’t expect it to melt down like our old one. I also like the built-in ember grate and it is a great feature and of course it is made in America.

Love it

Nice sturdy piece, can hold much more wood and create a bigger fire than my previous gas insert logs. My father thinks the grate holes should be bigger to allow embers to fall thru. You have to use the poker once or twice to clear the embers and create space for air up flow. I think it’s fine tho because those embers give off heat

Stronghold Ember Lifetime Fire Grate

This is a rare quality product. Solid hunk of fabricated iron and I believe that it's made in an iron works in the U.S. I've used it through a season now and it's no worse for wear.
