We are extremely happy with our new fireplace doors! Of all the parts which we ordered, the fireplace mortar is the one that we are least happy with. Despite having been super careful about the application, some of the mortar got on the door frame and there is no way we can figure to remove it. It is a perfect sealant between the stone & doors but not so perfect on the door frame itself...Any suggestions?
A. W. Perkins Co. Fireplace Mortar
Ove the past 30 years I have used a number of different fireplace mortar repair products. None of them have lasted more than a few weeks. I burn my fireplace almost 24/7 during the winter months. I used the A. W. Perkins product in December, 2014. I allowed two days without burning to allow the product to set and dry throughly. So far, March, 2015, it has performed flawlessly. I would have given this product a 5 rating, but it has not been in use long enough. If lasts longer than this burning season, I would give it a 5 and recommend it highly to other users.

I have used the Fireplace mortar and I am extremely pleased with the results. I do not have have to replace the brick panels as was suggested which saved me money. The gray blended well with my panels and you can hardly tell that mortar was used.
