A:
Fireproofing is not necessary if the distances required to combustible materials are followed when installing. If installation closer to those areas is desired, then installation of some noncombustible materials would be necessary.

What else do I need to purchase with this product in order to operate it? Do I need to purchase an on/off switch of some kind?

This unit can be wired directly to a wall switch if only an on/off functionality is wanted. If variable settings or timers are desired than additional controls would be needed.

Really Like This Infrared Heat
This is a functional and good looking product. I have a 13' x 13' screened porch, so bought this to extend the time we can be outside. I live in the upstate of SC where the mornings and evenings are cool, and this now allows us to be outside instead of inside. The way it warms people, rather than the air, is really nice. The only possible downside is that it doesn't work as well when it's windy, but I'm still more than satisfied.
