The Pennsylvania Firebacks Dated Great Oak Fireback pays homage to all the benefits we receive from trees. The oak tree in particular is a symbol of strength and durability. Following a tradition observed in old firebacks, the Dated Great Oak is cast with its production year in the lower panel; making it a great commemorative piece. Firebacks are shipped with a water base black paint to prevent rust build up during transit. To give a brighter finish to the fireback and to protect the casting from rust after use with a fire, an application of water base graphite stove polish is recommended. Applied with a toothbrush or rag, this paste, when dry, can be polished with a wire brush or rag giving the fireback an attractive silverfish sheen.

The Pennsylvania Firebacks Dated Great Oak Fireback is constructed of cast iron and is meant to be placed behind your fire. Reclaiming heat that you’d otherwise lose, this fireback will absorb heat during burning and then radiate it into the room. Even after the fire is out, heat will continue to move throughout the room making it a very efficient addition to your home!
