FAQs

Q: We have a tiny upstairs, wood-burning masonry fireplace with opening dimensions of 23" wide and 22.25" high. We would like a glass door(s), allowing us to close off the fireplace when not in use or at the end of fires for safety. Appearance is not of critical concern. A: This would require a custom door due to the size. Just about all of the doors starting with item number 163 should work. Hope this helps and let me know how I can help further!
Q: Is it possible to have a fire burning while the glass doors are closed? A: No, the manufacturer warns against burning a fire in the fireplace with the glass doors closed.
Q: Will this product be okay on a brick fireplace with gas logs? A: This unit is intended for masonry fireplaces such as brick and can be used with both wood and gas burning units.
Q: Is the screen a sliding curtain or is it a mesh screen door(s)? A: The Ardmore has heavy duty mesh panel doors.
Q: Do the screens fold like doors or hang like a curtain? A: They are solid mesh screen doors that swing open from the middle.
Q: Is there a gasket on the back perimeter of these doors? A: No, these doors do not have a gasket.
Q: What is the gauge of the steel? A: The Ardmore doors use 16 gauge steel.
Q: Where is the hidden damper? A: The damper is hidden behind the bottom stiles of the glass doors. In order to access the damper you must open both doors.
Q: Can I use this door set on a stone fireplace? The stones nearest the fireplace opening are fairly flat, like bricks. A: Yes, you can use this fireplace door with your stone fascia, as long as it is relatively flat. Otherwise there will be gaps between the doors and the fireplace face.
