This chimney fan is unbelievable!!! We installed this in our ranch house that has spray in insulation and is a real tight house. We have been told this is cause of our fireplace smoking out the house. This chimney fan sucks up all the smoke while running it on low and I would have bought this years ago if I would have known. Great product and the salesman was a great help buying the right adaptor and fan to fit my chimney.
I bought the RS-12 chimney fan for wood burning fireplaces. I installed it on a Isokern fireplace. The fireplace was expensive -- Norweigen lava rock. The fireplace opening was 44" x 36" and the clay flue was 13.5" id. The house invariably filled with smoke when we used the fireplace. The chimney would draw well when the fire was very hot and very large. Even then it would put a fair amount of smoke smell in the house. The house is well insulated and tight. The fireplace has a 3" external air supply and we would "crack" a window -- all with varying degrees of success. The chimney fan has worked as advertised. We now enjoy the fireplace without burning eyes and smoke in the house. The fan was well built and was easy to install.
