This cap is very well made, sturdy and overall great quality. The unit I recieved did have a rivet connection on the bottom sleeve that had pulled out of the hole (probably banged around in shipping. I had 3/16 inch stainless rivets, so I installed a new, larger rivet. The installation on my chimney was a snap. They could consider predrilling some mounting holes in the bottom flange, as stainless is kinda tough for most screws to penetrate. I used the Gelco adhesive sold by Woodland, also.

Chimney Cap

The cap worked like a charm, easily replacing the old one. Now I don't have any more birds in the chimney. Woodland Direct's site was easy to use, provided a good description (this item has different fittings depending on your type of chimney, so descriptions are important) and gave me an accurate ship and arrival date. Good, straightforward service I will use again.

Woodland Stove pipe Cover

Dear sirs, This pipe cover seems to be fairly solid , despite the fact that I noticed the lattice was a bit bent out of shape. The construction is quite good, but with the way the wind works around the part of the house where this has been installed, I can still see sometimes that the product might not hold into place very long unless I get back up on the roof and re-screw the insert more tightly. Otherwise, this product is what I was hoping for, since that last three that I had on my Stove pipe were ultimately destroyed and carried away by the fierce winds that blow around here. This product could be a bit heavier in the upper construction, but for my temporary needs, it will suffice. Therefore I will give this product 3 !/2 stars, although it would probably rate4 stars on a more modern house in a less windy area.

The chimney cap is made well. Design is very basic and overall appearance is somewhat disappointing. Shipping costs were very high to Canada and length of delivery was not express (which was paid for) more like 6 weeks. Company made good after CS complaint and expedited next day.

Received this cap--odd size that we needed. Cap fit snugly..no problem at all. The grating around the cap is great keeps out birds and squirrels. Highly recommend this cap. Highly recommend this company for their fast delivery and care in shipping.

Stainless chimney cap

The product was shipped on time and arrived in good condition. Installation went well and looks very nice. The only problem there should be a "caution very sharp edges" on both ends of the box. The one warning label was on the end opposite the one I opened and I got cut badly before I even realized it was sharp. Otherwise, I was/am happy with this product.

HomeSaver Guardian 304 Stainless Steel (5/8" Mesh) Chimney Cap The chimney cover is working just fine. However, I had to modify the cap before it would fit into the chimney flue pipe. The cap’s flue pipe had a spot weld where it joined the cap, but the end that needed to be inserted had no weld holding it together. So the insertion end was flared out. The metal was too stiff to press together by hand so that I could insert the cap into the chimney flue. I solved this problem by using a ratcheting strap to close the flared end, drilling a small hole, and securing the piece together with a pop rivet. After this “repair”, the cap slid right in to the chimney flue with a snug fit.

Nice chimney cap. Assembly was poor. Part of mesh was not covered by the top . I had to remove top and reallign mesh myself. Box was perfect. It was not done in shipping.

Hi, Only issue was the part should have specified that the flue diameter should have specified if it was OD or ID, I ended up cutting off the crimped edge and spreading it out a bit so it would fit over the existing flue pipe. Sam

Outstanding Quality

I was on my roof cleaning gutters when I realized my rain cap to my oil furnace was falling apart. So I first went to my local big box store, a.k.a. Lowes and bought a replacement. Back up on the roof I went, and saw that the rivits they used were loose, there was no spark arrestor/screen, and there was no UL listing marked on it like the old one. It was just plain junk. So I came online to WoodlandDirect where I had purchased high quality parts for my house before and found this. It arrived very quickly, and had a UL stamp, and spark arrester. It was also good to see a lifetime warrantee card inside the box. The quality is great, no loose rivits, very well constructed. It fit right on my furnace exhaust pipe, and required no tools, or sealants, etc. It just slides on. It literally took me all of 5 minutes to change, and that includes getting up on the roof.

Flue Cap

I had search to find the flue cap for my restored pot belly stove that was my parents that they had for minimum 35 years. This good quality and great material cap. I didn't want to spend too much but this is the only few that I found to be best bet when it come to value and quality. I got to use it and no little floating burning ashes was spotted, so I know I'm safe from fire hazard. Thanks.

Chimney Flue

10" flue pipe should be 4" longer(taller) for ease of installation.

Fit was perfect I would suggest you make the sticker on the top of the unit, that warns about sharp edges, larger. I didn't read it until after I lifted the unit out of it's box, cutting a finger on both hands. You're correct about the sharp edges !!

Excellent product, poor packaging

This chimney cap is gorgeous. However, there was no protective paper or bubble wrap in the box and it arrived bent. Since the bend wasn't creased, we were able to bend it back out but it took some effort due to the stainless steel material. These need to be surrounded by filler for protection in shipment. These aren't cheap and they need to arrive in perfect condition.

On quality

I didn’t like how the mesh was sitting there loosely so I tack welded it. Being loose is going to make a lot of noise in the wind echoing down the chimney. I don’t think the diameter was true but this is the type of thing you have to smash on there anyways. It’s cheaper than I thought but being all stainless it saved me a lot of time and money cause I would have built one from scratch and that would have cost a fortune.
