One of the two boxes had its top partially crushed to the point where one of the spot welds on a pin assembly that holds the unit in place was broken. I was able to install the unit by adjusting the pins on the opposite side to hold the unit in place.

Cap is perfect. Old cap was same. Burn all mesquite wood the mesh metal on the cap could be the next gauage up as this just burnes away in short time like 4 winters.

Measuring is not everything...

I measured my flue liner where it extends from the masonry chimney -- a 17x17 inch terra cotta square pipe with rounded corners. After that I began my search for a proper chimney cap. I ordered this one because it said 17x17 inches. However, in reality it must probably fit up to 20x20 inches. I ran the set screws all the way in on all sides and it did not bite until the last turn of the last screw. I'm sure it is holding, but just in case, I'll soon go back up and add some metal shims with double stick tape to ensure the screws are not at their limit of adjustment. The finish is good and the price was very reasonable. You can paint to match your colors or leave it flat black as I did.

This is a well built product with a very secure fastening system. We drilled holes 1/4 of the way though the Chimmney tile to allow the boltss to securely grip in case of high winds that we recieve often. This would not be nessacary in most locations but we live on a hill. I would recomend this product and purchase it again if I ever needed on again.

8" won't fit 8"!

Very well made, but: Do not call it an 8" chimney cap! It does not fit over my 8" flue tile... too small! Did not see the actual min./max. diameters on the website when ordering. I ended up cutting these nice new caps with a grinder in several places, removing the threaded tabs, then prying them open to fit over the 8" flue tile. Held them on with large hose clamps. Also, I have a double-flue chimney, and the overhang of the 'roof' on this cap prevents side-by-side placement. Had to cut about 2" off one side of each cap.

Good product. Strong. Easy to install. Only issue I had was the nuts to secure the cap, which should be welded to the frame, were not properly welded on one of the three caps I bought. I installed it anyway amd it is working fine. Would recommend purchase.

Chimney cover worked great. I have three chimneys that are on the same fireplace. I purchased two of these covers and one for the middle chimney that did not have a metal cover. All three fit perfectly. I spent around $225. I had an estimate for a contractor to cover the three chimneys and they want $800. I am very happy. The covers also keep out the racoons!

8 inche square (liner dimension) chimney caps

I have 2 chimneys that are masonry around 8 inch square ceramic liner. Bought 2 caps. They install easily (10 minutes each after climb up on the roof). look nice no problems. My chimney sweep said that I would have been better to buy stainless as these will eventually rust out, but they are a big improvement over no caps. Exactly as advertised. Fast delivery by UPS

Well built but way too small of a top cover to really keep the weather out. The web site should publish the actual dimensions of the top covers of the chimney caps, so I don't have to go thru a return process and pay extra postage. if Woodland doesn't do this, than it should be free postage for a return!!!
